burning sensation in my wifes right leg

Hi my wife has had a burning sensation and unable to feel here her right leg for the last 4 months and having carried out a number of scans weve just today received some results from the hospital our GP belives from the MRI scan that its the D4-5 intervertabral disc space which has been squashed and the bulge has cought a nerve which has brought on that burning sensation and loss of feeling . please can you advise me on a recogmended therapy for this problem i to have had promlems with my lower back having just left the british forces and aqua running was highly recogmended to me, will this bring the bulge down and relies the nerve so she can get the feeling back in here leg, and stop the burning sensation?     Regards Mick

Dear Mick,

please look up my FAQs for back pain on my blog at http://neurospine.blogspot.com

Therapy options do include aquatherapy and other forms of physical therapy. If the problem is severe though then surgery is still the recommended option. If you wait until the nerve becomes severely damaged then weakness in the leg may occur and could be permanent even after surgery. Get an opinion from a nearby neurosurgeon.
