Advice needed....kyphoscoliosis and herniated disc symptoms

Hello, i'm trying to pinpoint certain sypmtoms i get. Last june i injured my back resulting in 2 herniated discs (l4-l5 and t10-t11) and also got diagnosed with kyphosis and scoliosis whilst having an mri scan and xrays due to the herniated discs. I have generalised sciatica pain in both legs, leg weakness, tingling etc.. due to this. I also have very brisk reflexes in my knees and ankles. Previous to the disc injuries i started having extremely painful muscles spasms in my legs (lasting upto 24 hours at a time), facial tingling which moves around, facial muscles tightening like spasm and also tingling in my right hand and muscle spasm in my right lower arm. I assumed i was just tired or it was just spasms and tingling like you could normally get anywhere until somebody i know said facial tingling and tightness could be a problem. I see my consultant about my back next week but im wondering whether to mention these symptoms too or make an appointment with my gp as they dont seem like back related problems. The facial tingling and muscles tightness / spasm are getting increasingly worse and started in my forehead but have since moved to my cheeks and around my lips and jaw. Its more dominant in my right side, same as i only get the issues in my right arm and never my left. I've researched the symptoms and haven't been keen on the 'diagnosis' that i get!

If you have not seen a neurologist yet, please see one as soon as possible. All these symptoms are nothing to overlook. Better to be safe than sorry. Let the expert make a determination. The Internet is a great place to get information once you have been diagnosed but not to use in place of a doctor.

Thank you for the advice, im going to call my gp tomorrow and book an appointment. I guess part of the reason ive always carried on ignoring it is because in the past year ive been diagnosed with a heart murmur, asthma, and 2 spinal diseases so i got a bit fed up of seeing doctors and also i felt as if they were probably thinking..here she is again...whats wrong now! if you understand me.....

Yes I do. I am 55 and have had problems all my life and am used to having to find doctors that take a woman seriously. When i was 14 my dad died and at 15 I started having chest pains. I was afraid I was dying and didn't want to burden my mother. One day I had an attack in the store when i was with her and I finally told her what was happening. She took me to 5 different doctors before she found someone that didn't give her the growing pains, sensitive young girl, emotional reaction crap. I was put in the hospital torun a battery of tests and they found I had a heart murmur and a duodenal ulcer.
I have learned that when my body tells me something I listen and fight until I find someone who respects the female sex enough to believe I might actually know what I am talking about.
In my 40's I was diagnosed with MVP and hypoglycemia. I still have an irregular heartbeat but have a great internist who has been my doctor for about 20 years.
I have had back problems for about 30 years and generally have been able to deal with it through chiropractic. This year I had a flare up in my neck that didn't respond to my usual therapies and found out I had 4 herniated disks.
I hope you find your answers and they are easily treated.

I know what you mean, from about the age of 18 i was complaining to doctors about having pailpitations, chest pain etc..and they kept telling me there was nothing wrong and i was too young for any problems. Fast forward 8 years and whilst in hospital for an asthma attack the doctor found i had a systolic heart murmur and requested my gp referred me for a heart echo...and a floppy valve was found...! It's funny how when you're younger they say theres nothing wrong...and then you find out years later there was but you get fobbed off! Im 27 next week and since i hit 26 its all gone down hill haha...must be getting old! 4 disc herniations must be agony! I thought 2 was bad enough.....ouch!

Wow we sound very much alike. MVP is an abbreviation for mitral valve prolapse. Tht is a floppy mitral valve in your heart that can leak and allow blood to flow backwards back into the heart causing extra heartbeats and palpitations. Not really a big deal in most cases and is often hereditary, but can get severe and require replacement. Fortunately, I found a doctor that believes in her patients and gets results.
