After Surgery Pain

I am a 41 year old woman that suffered from a back injury almost a yr ago and recently had surgery 1 month ago.  I had a ruptured disc and 2 herniated disc with a collapsed thecial sac. I am in more pain now then I was before the surgery in my left leg and the nerve is going crazy all the way from my back down my left leg. I have been taking this medicine for almost 1 yr too and feel that I may be taking this for nothing since it is no longer helping me.  I have developed insomnia do to this problem and can only sleep on one side comfortably without jumping in my sleep.  My back is very tight and my leg is numb, tingling, burning, and very very painful. How long do I have to go through this before I see or feel the difference that the surgery according to the doctor suppose to make? What is the expected recovery time for a fusion microdiscectemy?

How many levels did you have done? I had a fusion at L4-5 about 8 years ago and my recovery was very slow too. I had the same leg pain your having, it was horrible, at a month, I think I could only stand for about 10 or 15 minutes at a time. I was supposed to start PT at 6-8 weeks, I don't remember exactly, but there was no way. I was just in too much pain. I ended up going at 12 weeks.

It will get better slowly, but its going to take awhile, you've been through major surgery. Are you able to walk much? I thought these  microdiscectemy were supposed to be easier to recover from. Ask one of your Doctors to Rx you something to help you sleep. I had to. Just make sure its safe to take with your other meds.
