Back Pain and posterior disc protrusion at C5/C6

Can anybody tell me what this MRI report of the upper spine means

"Upper thoracic kyphosis and compensatory lordosis of the cervical spine. Diffuse posterior disc protrusion at C5/C6 level, encroaching on the anterior subarachnold space and just indenting the anterior aspect of the spinal cord with no significant myelopathic changes. No other abnormalities of the cervical spine.

Conclusion
Upper thoracic kyphosis. Diffuse posterior disc protrusion at C5/C6"


I have been seeing a rheumatologist for over two years. I have been treated with all kinds of medications Vitamen D, Celebrex, Arcoxia, Norflex, Lyrica, Cipralex, Nortriptyline, Methotrexate, Sulfasalazine but no benefit. The pain continues in my upper back, neck, head, upper arms and hands especially the palm of my hand and around thumb. The shoulders are mostly stiff. The neck gets stiff once every two months. I have constant lower back pain and freezing legs and feet. Recently the hands have also started to become freezing cold. There is tingling and numbness in my legs and hands from time to time. Rheumatologist diagnosis has been reactive arthritis, fibromyalgia and myositis.

When I wake up in the morning my body feels stifs. Then I take my medications around 8 am. The pain is manageable between 9 to 11 am. Then it starts coming back around 11 am and keeps increasing until I take my next medicines dose in the evening. During the evenings sometimes the pain is severe enough to cause dizziness, difficulty in walking and inability to concentrate on my work.

The neurosurgeon diagnosis has been to undergo spinal disc removal. Please help !!!
