Back and SI Joint Pain

I was wondering what else can be done for horrible SIJ Pain?
Ive been diagnosed with SacroIliac Joint Dysfunction.
Nothing anyone has done has helped.I've has SI injections,SI Ablations,Chiropractor and Orthopedic Doctors and all i get is pills and adjustments. They have me keep going back. Its not curing the pain its masking it.The chiropractor helps to a point but the pain is back within 24 hours.Ive done what is called rounds. Its a series of excercises for SIJD but I always end up in agony no matter what i do.Then I cant move for days without horrific pain and in tears.Recently Ive been having throbbing neck pains that are very painful.Know one seems to know whats causing them but there again they gave me more pills.I want to be a person again not a zomby living on pills.

I FELL 10 YRS AGO 5FT LANDED ON A 55 GALLON DRUM AND A 300#  KEG OF SAND LANDED ON MY CHEST  all the breaks in my back healed but from being laid up so long my si joint on my left side became weak due to lack of being able to exercise so when i went back to work finnaly i was lifting 100# bags of sand all day and one day i heard  a loud tear well to make a long story shorter i tore all the tendons ligaments in my si joint all the soft tissue connecting my tail bone to my hip the pain is excrushiating  so bad i would cry constantly 24 7 i was seriously losing my mind between the pain the nausia lack of sleep i would go 3 days without sleeping i was in so much pain i would become so exhausted i finnally pass out sleep so hard for 20-45 minutes i would be good for another 3 days it was horribble nothing work for the pain vikodin, lorcet, percocette, morphine not even oxycontin would releive the pain i really just wanted to die i had no quality of life at all for years i suffered like this on narcotics just to be able to walk the pain killers brought the pain down from a 10 being to worst to 0 being none the pain meds made my pain a 8 this went on for yrs my si joint became nothing more than scar tissue from all the steriod injection faucette, epederals and trigger point injections about 30 of each of them well my doctor finnally perscribed me methadone and i finnally found pain relief i normally do not recomend narcotics for pain releif because they are very dangerous and addictive no one can take them long term and not be addicted it is not possible but when no other solutions are available and they are taken as perscribed and not abused then i really beleive if  it is the only choice left then it should be allowed in my case i tried everything else first but nothing worked and i could not take it anymore i had allready lost my health my family my home and i had nothing left to lose so methadone works best for si joint pain at least for me it does and  if taken long term it does not cause uephoric feelings after taking it so long it only kills the pain i dont ever feel high so if your are truly suffering ask your doctor about methadone  it works !!!!! Great info -- you mentioned that after years you finally found someone who knew how to fix it.  What type of doc?

I recently had to have an L5-S1 fusion because my disc was literally crumbling.  Prior to the surgery, I had notably popping in my lumbar region, which at the time I thought was vertibre instability due to disc degeneration.  Now after the surgery, the popping is still there, and my physician thinks I may have SIJ too.  I was in a really bad car accident as kid and suffer tremendous trauma to my hips.  I have noticed for years that one leg was shorter than the other, but frankly since recovering from the accident, I never had any problems, so I did nothing with it.  After the surgery, my legs appear to be the same length, but the instability noted prior to surgery appears to still be there.

Any thoughts?

Common cause for back problems: sacroiliac dysfunction, SIJ subluxation, ilium upslip, rotated ilium/innominate, tilted pelvis, etc.?

Why doctors never check that but instead offer heel lifts?

Tilted pelvis can cause LLI/LLD as (functionally) short leg. Many anatomical leg length differences are not really anatomically but only seems they are because they are diagnosed from 2D picture that is a projection of 3D world. If other ilium is anteriorly rotated (very common) then other femur head is closer to camera and it looks longer. You can easily see 1-2cm difference in leg lengths even it isn’t anatomical but a perspective error because of viewing angle.

What symptoms tilted pelvis can cause on our muscular and skeletal systems?
-Disc degeneration because other SIJ has lost it’s capability as shock absorber for forces coming from below pelvis?
- Piriformis syndrome, because of twisted pelvis
- Sciatica, buttock/groin/back pain
- Disc herniations, because pelvis is not working symmetrical when bending or lifting
- Scoliosis, many times called as idiopathic scoliosis because of an upslip?
- Hip joint arthritis because of the rotated ilium and changed angle of femur bone?
- Any other? -I know many. I had much more!

Medical literature shows so many different tests and there are a lot of practical studies that show there is no test that using it even two experts would get the same results. Is that a lack of skills or lack of understanding the problem? How can they correct it if they don’t understand what it is?

And (approximately) how common is that tilted pelvis? Many experts say pelvic malposition is very common with LBP-patients. Some are telling it is a cause for problems up to 90% or even 98% of them.  Some MDs say it is a cause of pains in is less that 1% of the cases. What is the reason for so huge difference in opinions? Others are following the pain and others dysfunction?

Do you agree that many children can have it, but they just don’t have any SIJ pain? Pain comes later after walking years with unstable pelvis like I had. And pain comes usually to the other side. And not always even there but sometimes only to groins, buttock or to somewhere else...

I had subluxation/dysfunction on my left SIJ since I was a child and it took 25 years to find someone who found it and knew how to correct it. My low back pain was on my right side so everybody tried to treat that side. Some experts might have tried to treat my left side (I don’t remember because they didn’t explain what they are doing...)  but didn’t get any results, perhaps because of lack of skills I guess.

Even when I had short left leg, tight muscles on the back of my left leg, right heel pain, scoliosis, extended lordosis, bad posture, etc. I also had ischias (sciatica), leg weakness on both legs, high blood pressure, small heart troubles, headaches, shoulder pain, etc.

I don't understand why they treated that other (right) side because my left leg was shorter and my left SIPS lifted up when doing the flexion test causing positive signs (also spinal curvature was found) for scoliosis. I guess they just followed the pain and not the cause of the pain? Most of them didn’t check leg lengths nor other landmarks at all...

I would not go near a surgeon at this point and I would not go to a surgeon's office for this problem. Haitran has given you good advise. pelvic imbalance causes all sorts of muscle pain. People who are inactive or who are overweight or who sit alot develop very tight and short hip flexor muscles. Surgery may make you even more inflexible and in my humble opinion probably will not even address your problem. Be very careful with regard to your decision here. Get Jolie Bookspan's book on How to fix your back pain without drugs or surgery and read it cover to cover. then commit to putting in the time and effort to fix yourself.

To me your pain seems to be coming from bone and muscle dysfunction. It could be that your feet & leg that is unbalanced or there is a rotation or unbalanced pelvis that lead to complex muscle strain and joint instability.

In my opinion, i think you should see an experienced Osteopath who specialised in manual therapy because they often have a holistic approach to musculo-skeletal problem that might be able help you.

your issues may be myofascial. I had all the same pain you describe-- worse in my neck and shoulders but occasionslaly in the hip areas and low back also. It was the MUSCLES, not the bones causing my problems. research Jolie Bookspan and John Barnes (Myofascial release) see if your symptoms fit. Many times joints are in dysfunction because the muscles are pulling them into dysfunctional positions. good thing is muscles are fixable with steady consistent self treatment.
