All this talk answers my questions. Right now left leg pain and hip. Can't I have had the mri showing degenerative disk disease. Been in pain for the last 3 days with no sleep. Tnx all!
Leg pain, burning sensation and constipation are expectable symptoms then based on the results? Nerve damage doesn't necesarily have to happen then in order to have those symptoms, but just enough with what the MRi result say?
Thx
I can't tell that from here. However, you pain symptoms are consistent with the MRI report.
Thank you so much.. I will definitely ask. Just one last question please to be sure I understood.. Based on the impressions of MRI then, This Sclerosis, or hardening of surfaces at L5 S1, with inflammation on tissues/ligaments.. That's is then sign of degenerative disc? Thats what is causing the leg pain and burning sensation in some areas?
Thx once again
Can inflammation and sclerosis "hurt" the nerves -- probably not. Nerve damage associated with spine disease usually comes from pressure of disc material or bones on the nerve root, which can wear away the myelin sheath covering the root and interfere with nerve conduction at that level.
The medical term sclerosis means a 'hardening' or 'stiffening' of a structure. For instance, arterial sclerosis is also known as "hardening of the arteries."
Sclerosis of spinal ligaments in this case is a sign of degenerative disc disease, which causes pain. Transient pain is common with DDD.
When you have this many questions, write them down and bring them to your next doctor appointment. Your doctor is the best person to explain your MRI -- he's looking at it, I'm not.
And this sclerosis.. And the inflammation of ligaments and tissues... Can that affect The nerves to the point that it causes all this symptoms?
Sorry to be repetitive... I am just trying to understand... If the inflammation of tissues surrounding can actually hurt the nerves
And would it be normal for this pain to come and ago... Like I mentioned... It comes on a Monday, then disappears and comes back on Friday for instance ...
Yes, low back disease can cause all those symptoms.
I have that problem after my car accident, it is probably your sciatic nerve.
Thank you So much for replying...
So would say that the constipation and burning spots on legs would be caused by this then?
Doctor told me to wait one month to see if this goes away on its own... Prescribed 'Naproxen' ... He said to come back so he could send me to an specialist.
Everytime pain comes back, becomes more
Pronounced.
Thx
Yes, the lower lumbar spine innervates the legs, so a lumbrosacral inflammatory condition could be causing these symptoms.
I suggest you follow up with your doctor.
