Bulging disc L5 S1

by lreynolds, Oct 16, 2009 03:23PM
I had a car accident in which caused a bulging disc in L5, S1 area. Is it possible the bulging disc caused the stenosis that i now have in that area of my back? The stenosis is now causing pressure on my nerves which is giving me severe pain in my back and i am experiencing Leg pain ans urinary problems. I am 48 years old and have no other health issues.

When I was in pain with two buldging discs I though I might as well try everthing. I spent a lot on searching for answers. Everyone concentrates on the structural defect they have when some times relieving the muscle tension is the answer to start the recovery process. Find a physical therapy clinic that uses the Med-X machine, that is assuming you are in the USA (you dont say on you bio). This is one of the few if not the only brand of machine that rehabilitates backs. Right now your back is so weak that only your spine is holding you up making the pain worse. You need to strengthen the muscles, this can lesson the nerve pinching and eliminate the burning but it takes time and you will have to do back strengthening exercises your whole life. I was in pain, but also have a disease that was affecting my muscles ability to rebuild, two budging dics, stenosis, slight scoliosis and a short leg. Now I am better but the scoliosis and short leg will never get better, strengthening the back makes a difference if you find a program that works for you!
