I have been dealing with this pain for what seems like forever now and was hoping someone who has been in a similar situation might be able to give me some sort of idea as to what it is. The pain started in 2010 when I was 15 and a swimmer in high school. It started as a deep, burning pain on the area between the top of my left shoulder blade and spine. I went to a sports medicine doctor who sent me to physical therapy-no help. I sort of made myself deal with the pain for a few years until 2013, when I was a freshman in college playing water polo. The pain got much worse. I went to an orthopedic surgeon who told me it was probably neck pain and ordered an MRI which was negative. I also did physical therapy there which didn't help much either. He then sent me to another sports medicine doctor who did a thoracic spinal injection on me, which provided mild relief for about a week. I ended up doing physical therapy again a few months later in early 2014, after seeing another doctor who thought I just needed myofasical release. This didn't help either. Earlier this year I returned back to my original sports medicine doctor after the pain got worse. I had an MRI of my shoulder done because he suspected a labral tear, and he was right. I had surgery on May 22 and thought this tear was the answer to all my problems, but it wasn't. I still have the burning pain just as much as I did before the surgery. I had a recent cervical spine MRI in April before my shoulder because my surgeon suspected something else was going on with my neck, but again it was negative. I was dealing with lower back pain as well these past few months and had an lumbar MRI which showed mild bulging discs on my entire lumbar spine with facets hypertrophy, but I'm not sure if something in my lumbar spine could be causing the problems in my shoulder blade. I am hoping to find another specialist who can maybe help me, but I really don't know where to start since I'm not really sure what could be the problem, so if anyone else has dealt with a similar problem that could give me any idea of what I could be dealing with I would really appreciate it!
