C6 and C7 bulging disc (s) with degenerative disc disease

Twising my hair in towel after shower. Pinch! Ow! right in my left shoulder blade. Dr. said it was pinched nerve and gave me prednisone for a week. 60 mg being the hightest then had to wean on and off it. Pain meds, Lortab and Percocet just kept me awake all night long and made me itch and didn't help the pain except to take the edge off.

It is much better now. It still aches sometimes. I keep ice on it for the most part. I have no power in that side. I've been going to a very good chiropractor. He found that it is definitely a pinched nerve and I have no muscle strength in my tricep and the damage may be permanent. He says two more weeks of chiro and if I am not responding, I have to go see a neurosurgeon.

I have been tryin to see online what to expect and how to pick the right doctor. Some say do it, some say no. The soft stuff inside/between the c-6 and c-7 disc has come out and is pinching the nerve that runs down my left shoulder and arm. It is so scary because I love to ride horses and I am feeling so hopeless that I may not get to ride again. Can anyone recommend any sites where I can get really good information on what surgeries are available and the recovery time and percent of success?
