Can Twitching be Due to Herniated Discs?

Hi, I am a 39 year old female and live in Washington State and have had muscle twitching since May 15, 2009, when I came home from a long day on the lake.  I got muscle cramps that night in my legs and feet and since then have had twitching, which varies in severity but never goes away completely.  The twitching is mostly in my calves but has also been in my arms, hands and stomach. I have three herniated discs, which on April 15, 2009 (one month prior) I received a shot in my back for the pain.  Also, My husband and I separated that week as well and are still going through a divorce.  My doctor ran blood work and performed strength tests and said she thought it was due to stress but I'm not entirely sure and I'm scared out of my wits.  I have an appointment with a neurologist but not until September 22nd, almost a month away.  I have high anxiety and know that can make the twitching worse...it's a vicious cycle.  I am having a hard time waiting and feel like I'm getting more symptoms everyday.  Any helpful advice that will help me get through until my next appointment?
