Can you help interpret these MRI results!

Can you help interpret these MRI results!

1) Left L5 Laminotomy and resection of previously seen disc extrusion at L5/S1 with scarring around the left S1 nerve root.

2) Lower lumbar spine spondylosis with Mild disc bulge and small annular tear at L4/L5. Small disc bulge at L5/S1.

I suffer with cauda equina. The above MRI was done 3 years after I had a laminectomy and discectomy. I am wondering if surgery is an option to help fix some of this. Any ideas are welcome! Thanks!

Hi there!

The report describes a previously done surgery and scarring noted around one of the lower spinal nerve (S1); with inflammatory/ degenerative changes and a mild degree of disc bulges noted around the next upper levels (lumbar). Your symptoms are more likely to be due to the scarring around the S1 nerve. It would be difficult to comment on the management plan without the detailed report/ clinical details. I would suggest discussing with your treating doctor as to what can be done about it and if surgery would be a feasible option at this stage.
Hope this is helpful.

Take care!
