Cervical spondylosis with Scoliosis

by Edie1953, Apr 27, 2009 11:40AM
I am a 55-year-old female diagnosed with scoliosis (S-shaped) at the age of 15.  I have remained relatively symptom free, although I do have one hip that is higher and one leg that is shorter.  I was told that if I did not have scoliosis, I would measure 5' 7".  Most of my life, I measured 5' 5" but now at 5' 4".

I had a fall this weekend and x-rays revealed cervical spondylosis at C4 through C7; perhaps down into the thoracic region but x-rays limited to the neck.  The only symptom I have noted with regard to my neck for many years has been my inability to bend my neck forward.  I have always walked with my head held straight up and almost tilting backward.  I attributed it to my scoliosis, although I was a medical transcriptionist for many years and worked at a typewriter and later computer screen which probably didn't help.

If I am symptom free, is it recommended that I go ahead and seek consultation with a neurologist or neurosurgeon?
