Compression fracture

Compression fracture

I fell a couple of weeks ago hurting my lower back.  After x-rays, CAT scan and a MRI, I was diagnosed as having a compression fracture and crack in my L1.  This past week, they performed a vertebroplasty.  I "think" some of the pain is gone but now I have this horrible pressure in my lower back.  Has anyone had this procedure and if so, can you tell me what to expect?  I was told by the doctor that some people respond right away and walk out of the hospital painless.  Txs.

Compression fractures can produce significant pain.  The vertebroplasty was done primarily to stabilize your spine and prevent any possibility of further damage.
Some individuals do respond quickly, but not everyone has a quick recovery.
It just takes time and a lot of patience ---
Right now you are still newly postop and any spine surgery needs a window of recovery.
If you are still having significant problems after another 7-10 days, discuss with your doctor any additional options available to provide increased comfort.
The crack in your L1 vertebra is probably a more significant source of the pain.  Think how much discomfort occurs with individuals who crack their ribs.
Just continue to take pain meds and use other methodology such as heat/ice to help reduce any associated inflammation of the surrounding muscles.
Hopefully you will feel better soon----
