Cyst discovered in thoracic region of the back

I have had chronic lower lumbar pain for 2 years. Have done all doc recomended treatments. Recently began getting upper pains. My first MRI in 07 was of lower lumbar. Found herniated and bulge discs and have been diagnosed with degenerative discs.  After new MRI in 09 of entire back they discovered what may be a cyst in the thoracic region( more test needed not even sure if that's what it is yet. Discovery was 7/18/09. ) I've have researched alittle and I'm finding that if this Is growing on my spine it could be the cause all my pain. I have alot of pain in my legs and sometimes my shoulders. My extremities fall asleep easily and I get pins and needles in my feet legs and arms frequently. I don't think my primary care is taking my pain seriosly and he sent me to a pain clinic at an accredited hospital in Massachusetts. They seem to be helping more but I'm in alot of pain while I'm  waiting for answers. Is it true this cyst could be the source of my pain? Could this spot on my MRI be anything else? I'm scheduled for more xrays and a bone scan.  What's the procedure for removing this might be cyst or other thing ?should I be taking a pain med? Why won't my doctor give me a perscription?
