Desperation! What next?

I am seriously desperate in finding a diagnosis.  I have so far been to every doctor for my migraines, which come from my neck under the base of my skull.  I had mri's of my brain, sinuses and next i'm going for my neck.  I went this week to a physiatrist.  He started pinching my skin on my back to my neck and it was getting very red.  He said he wasn't not even touching me hard and there is something going on with my nerves and muscles.  He felt my neck and pressed on the exact spots where I get the pain which leads to my migraines.  He then said ok well you can either go get acupuncture or hometherapy.  He said it was up to me?  Then said I can get an MRI but don't really need it!  How the hell do they know what is going on in my neck then?  Anyway he ordered the MRI which I am gonig to get.  He also gave me muscle relaxers and anti-inflamtory.  I don't get it?  So there I left yet another doctor's office without an explanation.  I had an x-ray done once it said I had herniated discs and my cervical spine moves too much when looking upward.  I am going to get my MRI of my neck and bring it to another doctor.  I'm not sure how much more of this I can take.

Thanks for the reply!  I tried nerve block injections didn't do anything.  Maybe my next step will be acupuncture, I really don't have much options left.

It sounds like what you're describing is soft tissue injuries in the neck, which can become worse over time and lead to occipital nerves pain.Occipital neuralgia is very common problem in clinic,Most of case can lead to headache and vision change,so treatment of occipital neuralgia become more and more important for practitioners.

New research from Chinese medicine hospital in Guangzhou showed: Acupuncture plus acupoint-injection is effective for greater occipital neuralgia, better than the routine western medication.(1)

In my persional opinion,Acupuncture can help circulation of occipital nerves and lead to relive inflammation, that's main reason of acupuncture works. Medication can help symptoms but this results seems temporary.
