Disc bugle and torn annulus fibrosis T10

Hi,  I have been diagnosed with the following.  I have been advised to lay flat as much as possible for 6 weeks, to see if I will heal.  I have tried to research my problem, but some sites say its very rare.  Can you let me know if I can do anything else to get better?  I got the impression that this is quite serious, is it?

There is loss of the normal lumbar lordosis indicating muscle spasm.
There is reduced signal in the T9-T10 and T10-T11 and discs indicating dehydration and disc
degeneration.
At T10-T11 there is a tear of the annulus fibrosis with quite marked bulging of the disc. The
bulging disc displaces the distal cord but does not compress it and there does appear to be
slight encroachment on the associated left nerve root.

Kindest regards

Amy Hughes
