Groin pain, back pain and numbness

Hi

i am still having many problems with severe back pain, leg pain, numbness and pain in vaginal/rectum areas and inner left thigh and bladder and bowel probs, have to self cath ect and still no diagnosis as yet. Still sitting with a heat pad wedged into my you know what, really fed up. I got a copy of a letter that the neurologist sent to my gp with ref to my emg test but I haven't seen the neurologist {i need the results from the full spine mri I am having tomorrow first} so I don't know what this means as I haven't spoken to the doc.

{{''this lady's electrophysiology is quite clear in that it shows s1 innovated neurogenic change which is indicative of lumbar pathology'' }}

what does that mean in english please, and does it show there is nerve dammage? I cannot understand why my problems do not relate to the dermotone maps, s1 probs are not the same as the ones I have???? Anyone got any ideas please.

Well it seems almost everyone is a woman here and I'm a man but I can relate to a lot of what your saying, I have herniated discs from my S1 up to my L2, I have moderate stenosis in about 5 places and facet hypertrophy in multiple places.

Now a lot of what I see written here with symptoms is exactly what I have. I get severe pain in my left side right side or centre of my back, and it's usually in my hip groin region. I get shooting pains that are so severe they cause me to fall I also get numbness in my legs which cause me to fall. I have problems lifting my legs sometimes I lose partial control of my bladder. Oh ya and my personal favorite the unexplained random twitching my right leg likes to do,

I have tried spinal decompression, physiotherapy, epidurals, working in a gym now they are sending me for injections but nothing has worked yet and no one wants to operate on me because of my age it seems. I found that I need a cocktail of medication to make things semi ok everyday. I have to take an anti-inflammatory, a narcotic, and a muscle relaxant, now this doesn't get rid of my pain totally I still live everyday in a lot of pain but it does make things better. Exercise is another good thing to do it doesn't have to be much but enough to tell your body you still want it to work for you if you just sit around all day cause your back hurts it's only going to get worse.

If this sounds like anything anyone else is going through I'd be happy to share in greater detail what I do if it'll help them or if they want to know but I'm not a doctor I just have experience backing me.

wow cant believe i found this page these symptoms sound very familer to me,i too have been suffering severe groin and hip pain for years, seen the gp and a gyne several times no explanation for the groin pain other than endometriosis, pcos, ibs, thrush, adhesions u name it ive got it,but still got the hip and groin pain on constant co-codamol 30/500 plus mirena coil fitted, then started to suffer irregular bleeding 9mths after the coil, found out i had cin1 on pap smear had loop excision, now debating wether to go back to the gp with the groin pain as its a constant ache cant sit for to long or lay down in one place for long periods as the aching gets worse walking relieves it for a short while then i get searing pains down my left leg calf and heel, also been suffering pins and needles in left foot and have a constant ache around my right kidney region,so the pain gets blamed on kidney and urine infections and treatment with antibiotics all to no avail, not sure if its of any relavance but i had i fall when i was 13 landed on my backside and really hurt my coxcic was limping for weeks so im wondering if i obained a back injury of some kind which has now come back to haunt me,id just be happy to get rid of this constant groin/hip aching

I too have  horrible groin pain! I kept looking it up on the internet as vaginal pain and getting no answers. It feels like I have clothes pins on my labia! It hurts so bad. Im taking at least 7-8 vicodin a day and feel like Im poisoning my body. My MRI showed broad based posterior posterlateral bulging of the L5-S1 disc asscociated with minimal bilateral neural foraminal encroachment and minimal broad based posertor bulging of L4-5. What does this mean? This burning is unbearable. Has anyone had anything like this and its gotten better?

Hi,

I am one week out from L4-5 fusion predominatly for right groin pain along with hip pain and butt pain that was unstable.  I later developed searing pain in my left calf.  The shots worked for a few days and then failed.  The purpose of the shots, I heard, was to determine where the nerves were affected.  If the shots worked for even an hour, then they provided a definitive source of the pain.   I don't know my outcome yet.  I think it will be a success, but when transferring in any direction from bed to floor, turning, sitting up, I still have the most godawful groin pain imaginable.  The doctor said this was not a usual place for pain and that is why I looked it up.  Looks like there are a lot of us.  I am so glad a c-scan were done and a hip xray.  I thought that was a waste of time, but sitting here after surgery with this still hurting, I am glad other things were ruled out, mostly.

I have problems with my L4-5 disc. I have complained to the docs about the groin pain. I usually get it when I sit too long. I have pain in my right hip/butt region that shots down the back of my butt. Then I usually get the left groin pain.It is very walk to walk when both sides are hurting. The same shooting pain I get in my hip region I get in my groin also. I also get a tingling in my vagina region too.For this I usually try laying down and proping my legs up with some pillows. Sometimes that helps. The doctors usually brush this off and just tell me it is the nerves from my back. I did have an emg done does that showed problems from the L4-5 region. I am glad you posted because there is not many posts about this problem. I know I am not alone with these symptoms. Hope you fell better.

I'm a 42 year old women which I used to be a healthy and happy person until one day started my dark days. I wanted tell a little about my problem, a year and a half ago, I started feeling an awful pain in my right groin, after being taken care at home with many different remedies over the county, I went to see my Dr. He sent me to see a Neurology with no answer for this pain then, He sent me to see a Reumathology Arthritis. He did many tests with no answer. He put two cortisone injection on the side of the pain and I was taking other medicines for around four months, but the pain was getting worse, I went back to my Dr. he order an MRI from my lower back and my right hip, which they find a mild left herniated disc pressing a left nerve, since then I started with roxicodone HCL 15 Mg four pills a day, I was with this treatment for about one year, with three spinal injections, but still I have that awful pain in my right groin side, the Dr told me that I need a surgery  an i did. I started therapy after the surgery and the pain came back, not only in the right, but was in my left side too. One day I couldn't handle the pain I went to the E.R, They did an ultra sound, finding few cyst in left ovary which there was a 1.9 cm solid cyst inside my left ovary with small amount of fluid around this, and one cyst 1.8 cm in my right ovary, My Gynecologist told me that the pain doesn't come from my ovary's or my uterus, so I went to see three different Orthopaedy's with a simple answer from them. "Sorry I can't help you". The other day I have 102.5 temp, I was taking Tylenol and antibiotics, now I'm lost, with, this awful pain that go to my tight and my back legs and cramps in my totes, I can't sit more  than five minutes, I can't do longer walkings, I have to be laying in bed with ice packs because is a burning pain. What I don't understand was if the mild herniated disc was found in the L side and the pain was in the R groin ,which the pain was going to my lower back, but was really necessary  go through a surgery that last 5 hours and at the third day I had 102.2 temp, my O2 sat was less than 80, I was on100% oxygen , they send me to I.C unit because I have inflamed my lungs and were full of anesthesia which was pressing my heart and I started having tachycardia, I end with pneumonia. They did many test to find the cause of the lung infection founding nothing so the answer was that I have Post surgery anesthesia's reaction  and I spent tree days in I.C.U, well the surgery was done hoping to be soon out of pain but the result wasn't what I was waiting  for. there is nothing that I can do. know I need some help please, The pain is making me crazy. The oxycodone that I'm taking two in the morning and two in the afternoon it helps for around two hour, after that the pain is awful, some times I can't handle any more.
Please some body help me.

You mention "severe back pain, leg pain, numbness and pain in vaginal/rectum areas and inner left thigh and bladder and bowel probs" and since you quote your doc as describing you as a lady, I guess we can assume you are female. :)

I've been spending some time over in the ovarian cancer support forum, and the symptoms you describe sound like some of the gyn problems discussed over there, many of which are not actually cancer, but things like ovarian cysts, endometriosis, etc.

Good luck with a proper diagnosis! You might want to visit the OvCa Support forum as well, if nothing else you'll find company there of other women experiencing similar symptoms. (I have no diagnosis either, but I have had many of the same symptoms you have, and I've found that it's tremendously helpful to know I'm not alone feeling all this pain.)

Your problems sound like mine. Do you have more pain when sitting to long, walking for more than 15 minutes, bending, headaches etc.
I had a MRI done and it showed I had a tarlov cyst on my S2. You should get some answers once you have your MRI done.
Good luck
