FYI-It took me four doctors to finally figure out that the pain in my shoulder blade was being caused by a problem in my neck.   I had xrays and an MRI of my shoulder blade area, and the doctor was like "everything's normal."  Finally a different doctor came in to see me and I explained that I had a burning and stabbing pain in my shoulder blade area, and he immediately sent me for tests of my neck.   It took 4 months, but it felt like years because the pain was so constant and so severe.  I finally asked my 4th doctor if he was positive that my neck was causing the pain in my shoulder blade, and he said that pain in that area of the body is almost always caused by a problem in the neck.   I had fusion surgery about 3 weeks ago and the pain in my shoulder blade is completely gone!    I thought it would never go away.   Can your doctor give you a referral to a spine specialist?
