Headaches After C-Fusion

Headaches After C-Fusion

I had severe, debilitating headaches that originated in my neck for 10 months straight. After making a headache general, x-rays and monitoring, it was determined that I needed 3 vertebre (C4/5/6) fused. Surgery took place 5/10/10. Afterwards I was headache free for 3 1/2 weeks. But at that point I began to have a  almost debilitating headache that seems to be almost constant, only subsiding slightly for less than 24 hours before coming back full force. Part of the time I get severely nausous. The pain is not as severe as before my surgery and does not stem from my neck. Rather it's concentrated on one side or the other and through the eye on that side. Is this new version of headache possibly a result of the surgery? Is this going to continue for the rest of my life? What can I do to get rid of my headache so I can back to living life? Should I call the surgeon before my 6 week check or wait until then? PLEASE help with any and all advice. I desparately need to get back to work, but can.t with this constant headache!!! Hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,
Mary-Margaret

I assume your only 4-5 weeks out from surgery, that's not very long. All I can tell you is that as time goes on your headaches will lessen. I had very severe headaches before and after surgery too, and they did better get better after awhile. Matter of fact, I went to see my Doctor about them too, and was told their just part of the recovery. I also still had a lot of pain at 6 weeks, how are your pain levels. What are you taking for meds?

By all means, call your Surgeon if your concerned, maybe he can prescribe something specifically for migraines for you.

Take Care

I fell your pain .... i am almost 10 months out from my surgery and suffer these terrible headaches as well.  I have tried everything i know to try and still get only temporay relief if any from the various meds and treatments. Being out of work and the loss of family life weighs on me constantly.. Acupuncture has seemed to tone them down and although minor i am beginning to get small windows of time without these headaches ( usually in the morning)  Ifya find something that gives you your life back please lmk and i will do likewise ..

Take Care and remember prayer can only help .
