I was asked by a neurologist to get a MRI done for lumbo sacral spine

I had pain in my right thigh so the doctor advised for an MRI and the impression in my MRI says
1. L3- 4 mild diffuse disc annular bulge , abutting thecal sac .
2. L4-5 posterior and bilateral para central disc protrusion, abuting thecal sac and L5 traversing nerve roots.

Kindly advise whom do i consult a neurologist or orthopaedic surgeon.

Hey there, i had the L4-5 problem, but mine was a pretty large bulge and i was getting pain down my whole left leg. This started 18 months ago and i just had surgery 3 weeks ago. The pain got worse and the longer you leave it the greater the change of your body creating pain signals which send pain even after the nerve pinch is released, this is known as chronic back pain.  In your case go see a neurosurgeon, surgery is last resort. Epidural steroid injections can temporarily relieve many forms of low back pain and leg pain (sciatica) and help a patient progress with rehab and exercise.

Good luck
