Injection for slipped disc.

Hi there, my daughter aged 28 has been diagnosed with a slipped disc. She has been in excrutiating pain.
After seeing a specialist today he has offered her an injection in to the spine which will help alleviate the pain and perhaps avoid having a back operation
Has anyone else had this injection and what was the outcome.

My daughter has tried everything, chiropractor,osteopath,physio,acupuncture,acupress.
All costing lots of money, but none of it working.
She is going to try the injection.
That is her decision and also her consultants recommendation.

Yea, I am a little concerned about getting the injection but at this point , i'm willing to do anything to not wake up in extreme pain every morning until my pain pill kicks in , My main goal is to not have to have surgery and have my back at least become managable and not worry about injuring it any further.

That is exactly what I think about the injection. It is only masking the pain.
It is not repairing the back.
How did you get on when you had the fusion. How long did it take and how long were you incapacitated for.?

Do your homework I have had one and what the injection does is block the nerves and you don't feel the pain but you think that you are better so you keep on doing the normal activity that you have always done and you keep hurting your back when the injection stops working you will be in even more pain and I still ended up going through the fusion so it is up to you but ask questions and do your homework. I've got no experience of this but I am also scheduled to get an injection in my spine for a ruptured disc and 3 compressed discs.....and im 26 y/o >_< Back pain is much worse than I ever thought it could be....  Good luck to you and your daughter! post back how it goes. Mine is not scheduled until march 1st.
