L5, S1 Nerve root cyst

I have a cyst on Nerve root S1 which is pushing on the end root of L5.  It measures 1 1/2 in diameter.
It's been going on since may, 2007.  And for 4months my right knee to the tip of my foot was paralized.  About 2months ago the feeling came back into my leg.  Only now I have extreme pressure and horrible pain going from my back to my ankle.  There was suppose to be a surgery, but I need a new MRI.  I am in great pain.  Is this something to worry over, or something natural that can fade away?
