L5 to S1 bulging disk

L5 to S1 bulging disk

I went to a chiropractor and then on to my doctor for symptoms of sciatica.  The doctor finally ordered an MRI after the stretching and chiropractic adjustments did not alleviate the burning, numbing feeling down my right leg.  The results of that MRI is that I have a 3.3 degree Bulging Disk between L5 and S1.  The doctor is suggesting decompression therapy.  My question is does that make sense or am I just prolonging this further in hopes that I don't have to have surgery to resolve the problem?  I have never had back issues before and I am only 38.  I am very active playing soccer, skiing (water and snow), etc....  How is this going to affect me down the road?

Thanks
