Lower back pain with sciatica and drop foot headaches

I am a 41 yr old female, I fractured my T12 in 1989, I have had bad pain over the years but after a series of falls in the last 3 months my doctor became concerned and had me go get a MRI. The results are as follows
First MRI is thoracic spine
degenerative disc desiccation at T11-T12 no focal disc herniation present. There is minimal right paracentral disc bulging at T3-T4, T4-T5, and T5-T6. No focal disc herniation, spinal stenosis or neural foraminal is present.
Second MRI is lumbar
sagittal T1 and T2 and axial T2 weighted images were obtained.
There is degenerative disc desiccation of the L5-S1 disc level. There is minimal fatty proliferation within the adjacent articular endplates. There is diffuse L5-S1 disc herniation. The disc herniation is slightly more focal centrally. Moderate facet arthropathy is present. There is no spinal stenosis. There is mild bilateral neural foraminal narrowing asymmetrically greater on the left.
Degenerative disc desiccation is present at the L4-L5 disc level. There is annular disc buldging. No Focal disc herniation, stenosis, or neural foraminal narrowing is present.

I do not under stand a lot of this the fatty proliferation is worrisome, as is the herniation and the narrowing.
I have been on Valium and percocet for 3 months now the pain has not abated but has gotten worse, I have stabbing lower back pain, often numbness in right leg, my right foot drags, and I have also had very bad headaches, these are not migraine in origin as I have had those for over 20 yrs. Also, there is a sharp pain that I occasionally get in my vaginal perineum this pain is so bad that I can not even walk when it hits me.
I can not continue on pain meds and muscle relaxers for ever, MY neurosurgeon is scheduled to see me on March 11, but I am not sure what to do till then.
Any help in letting me know what the MRI says would help, as would any recommendation on whether or not to have surgery, if the doc suggests it.
Thank you so much
