"small central and left sided focal disc prolapse, not effecting thecal sac but just touching fat anterior to the left S1 nerve root" "with no evidence of root impingement or exit canal stenosis"

can someone explain this more to me please. i have images of mri to send if useful

Thank you KittyLuv..

Much appreciate your help, effort and response. You are a credit to this forum!

I have a feeling that the diagnosis may not be the entire picture. Is it possible to send you the copy of MRI? I want to know the extent of damage and if the disc is torn or just bulging. I have spent over £1000 with private hospital. I am a little disappointed not being given the full information.

Regards

Sunny

The results of the MRI as reported indicate that there is a small intervertebral disc prolapse but that there is no significant evidence of nerve impingement ( either the thecal sac or the S1 nerve root)

The central canal (through which the spinal cord travels) shows no stenosis (narrowing) which indicates no evidence of compromise of the spinal cord.

Based on these findings, conservative treatment with anti-inflammatory medications and physical therapy may provide effective relief of any subjective symptoms.

For additional information enter "herniated disc" in the MedHelp search area at the top of this forum page.  Further detailed information related to this condition and appropriate treatment options should help you in understanding management of this condition.
