MRI Results--L4/L5 disc extrusion & Fissure

My diagnosis--small left paracentral disc extrusion L4/L5 possibly affecting L5 Nerve Root. Disc material extends 6mm below the disc but not a free fragment..Posterior Annular Fissure at L5/S1 w/o disc protrusion..
My question is how successful is surgery, and is it reccommended..mainly for the fissure.I am not too familiar with how they correct a problem of this nature. My husband just had surgery on L4/L5 herniated disc, and surgery was successful. I rehurt my back taking care of him, and had an MRI done, in which I found out my problem.. In general, I do ok with my back if I don't lift things or clean too much..I want to be able to do these things, and want to know if surgery is the way to go. I will meet with the specialist Mar 11, 2011, to go over this situation. When  my back goes out, it has been taking over two weeks in bed for repair. I plan on starting a new job, and do not want to reinjure it, and then loose my job because I can't get out of bed. I am not in constant pain, only when it goes out. I am questioning if surgery is the way to go. Any feedback would be appreciated. I know that every circumstance is different. I also have been suffering from headaches the past twenty years. After having every possible test on my head done, I read some correlation between headaches and spine, even though I do not have upper spine problems. No one has been able to find the cause of my headaches, so maybe my back might have something to do with it...I am a 48 year old women in good health, otherwise. Anyone out there have any similiar condition?
