MRI Results

I'm 42 and fell hurting my back with significant pain. What do these MRI results mean?

Narrowing of the L5-S1 disc with preservation of height, felt to be congenital transitional vertebra with sacralization of L5.

L4-5, disc desiccation changes and a left paracentral disc herniation with left sided thecal sac deformity extending laterally into the inferior aspect of the left neural foramen.

L3-4 mild disc desiccation changes, mild right lateral osteophyte formation without encroachment on the right neural foramen.

Thanks

Well.

L5-S1 is something congenital; fusion of the lumbar sacral spine; very common
L4-L5 herniation/disc is shrinking and a congenital abnormality with a thecal sac
L3-L4 disc is shrinking and a bone spur

I believe the only thing that might have occured after the fall was the herniation if the fall was recent.  Everything else you were born with and has occured related to aging.  Falls do not help when you already have problems with your back of course.

I had an MRI on my lower back yesterday and am waiting the results. any advice on questions i should be prepared to ask my Primary doctor who is getting the results. i've been having aching lower back pain for over a year and its gotten progressively worse over the past few months. At times the pain shoots down my legs and also my tailbone has been sensitive and painful at the slightest touch. i am very concerned and am looking for answers to help manage the pain. any inputs ? Thanks in advance!
