Medtronic Pain Pump

I have had a lumbar fusion surgery a year and a half ago. My disc never fused and my pain became worse. I also have 3 other discs that are bulging. One into my nerve sheath.  I am in constant pain. I had 2 other opinions from surgeons and both say that further surgery will not help. I have been in pain management and have been on everytype of medication. Now I'm on Opana ER and Hydrocodone for breakthrough. Soma, Neurontin, Butalbital. My question to anyone out there is about the Medtronic Pain Pump. My pain management doctor has advised me to give this a try. Has anyone had success with this? I am losing hope with this horrible constant pain. Let me know? Thanks.

Hi Joe, My name is Terry and i had a spinal fusion done on Sept112006. And my fusion has not yet to fuse back together. but my doctor put me on a bone simulator back in January. And its gone together a little. I just now started able to drive. About 3 years ago I broke my right leg. And had to have surgery. The doc had to put 4 screws and a rod in. And it never did heal right. Now the docs say i have RSD. I have been in serve pain for nearly 3 years. MY pain mangement docs say i need the pain pummp. I broke my leg in2004.I have been on all kinds of pain pills and i guess my body has gotten immune to them . nothing is working. I have a appointment with a doc in Memphis Tenn.at Saint Francis. To talk about getting the pump.I know excatly what you are going threw. Nobody knows until they go threw the pain. My prayers are with you. Because if i didn't have god in my life i would not be able to make it. I do alot of praying that god would take the pain away.With my wonderful wife that has been their with me tha hole time.She gives me alot of incouragement to keep going and don't give. She has always said god has a plan for me.Well enough of that.

Terry, The Lord and my family is what's getting me through as well. One second at a time. I am leaning toward's getting the pump. All of the research I have done looks like it might benefit me. I know one day God will heal me and has a great plan for me. I will keep you in my prayers as well.

I HAVE THE MORPHINE PUMP FOR PAIN MANAGEMENT!!!  I HAD MY SPINE FUSED AND RODS PUT IN WHEN I WAS 15.  I AM NOW 33 AND HAVE SUFFERED A GREAT DEAL OF PAIN.  EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT BUT I WOULD SUGGEST DOING A TRIAL ON THE PUMP.  THEY WILL TEMPORARILY PLACE ONE IN YOUR SPINE AND KEEP YOU IN THE HOSPITAL FOR A FEW DAYS.  IT IS JUST LIKE HAVING AN IV IN YOUR BACK WITH MEDICATION DRIPING IN IT.  THEY WILL EVEN DO PT WITH YOU TO SEE IF THE PAIN GOES AWAY WHILE YOU ARE ACTIVE.  THIS WILL TELL YOU IF IT WILL WORK FOR YOU OR NOT.  IT IS WORTH A SHOT AT THIS POINT.  I WOULD NOT HAVE THE PUMP PERMANENTLY IMPLANTED WITHOUT DOING THE TRIAL FIRST!!!!!  GOOD LUCK TO YOU, I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GOING THROUGH.  EVEN THOUGH YOU FEEL ALONE SOMETIMES, JUST REMEMBER THERE ARE ALOT OF US OUT THERE FOR SUPPORT.

Hello my name is Judy. I have a Medtronic Pain Pump, actually this is the second one .first one quit,no warning,I went into full morphine withdrawal,lost over 35lbs. in three days,almost died.They took it out,swore I'd never go back on it.But after living with the full blown pain again I finely did.I'm glad I did,do I worry about It quitting again? yes but it's better than the pain. Have any of you heard about any other troubles with them?? I'll bet some have died because of this pump.What happened with me. I went delirous after being severaly dehydrated could not function or help myself. God just didn't want me yet. don't want to scare you all. But since no one else will leval with us :: we'r all we have,.I won't live like a zobie on all those lovely pain pills that either don't work or if you take enough to kill the pain your only half there.  God Bless

I am scheduled to have a trail in two weeks for the pain pump.  Does anyone have any more info on how theirs is working?  Any info from real people that actually have it and not the people on the video that they gave me would be great.  Thanks for any help.
