My doctors can't find the problem

I'm a 46 yr old woman who fell 8 months ago and had a compression fracture of the T-12 vertebrae. I spent a week in the hospital then during which I was fitted with a special brace. I wore this brace for 18 weeks. I have had a vertebroplasty done on the fractured vertebrae as it was not healing. I also have weakness of the left leg to the point where my leg gives out and I fall. This is an ongoing problem. The latest fall was down a short flight of stairs. I have constant muscle spasms in my back, mostly on the left side, but does go into the right. The pain is constant and severe enough to keep me from sleeping properly. The inside of my left foot and ankle also swell. This seems to happen mostly when the spasms get worse in my back. The falls and weakness in my left leg also seem to happen more when the spasms get worse. I have very mild pain doing down part of my leg at times, however, the weakness seems to be more prominent than the pain. I've had multiple MRI's done. The vertebroplasty had no effects on my symptoms. They didn't get worse, however, they didn't get better either. My sleeping is helped by sleeping in a more inclined position. I can't sleep on a flat bed.
The doctors told me I also have two discs below the fractured vertibrae that are slightly bulging, however they don't feel this is the cause of my problems. My problem is, they don't know what is causing them, and I'm on more medications than I am comfortable with. When I try to talk to them about the symptoms not getting better, they give me more pills to take. I've seen a back/spine specialist and also a rehabilitative specialist. Now they want to send me to a neurologist.
I feel like I'm being bounced around from doctor to doctor and getting nowhere. I just want to find out what is causing all these symptoms and get it treated. Do you have any suggestions or is there any questions I can ask my doctors that would help pinpoint us towards a diagnosis and an effective treatment?

I still have no idea why I'm experiencing the symptoms I have. They have not lessened in the time since my original post. The doctors are finally beginning to believe there is just enough nerve damage in my back to cause the symptoms, but nothing definate yet. If anyone else has had something similiar to what I'm going through, and have had improvements from medical treatment, maybe you could help me. Something I could tell the doctors would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
