My sister has been advised that fusion of discs in the lumbar region could help her condition?

As stated above, I am sick with anxiety for my sister who has been advised that fusion is the best way forward but - and there is a but - most of the feedback she has gained from UK websites have been negative and really quite scary for a sixty four year old subject to falls the aetiology of which has not been gained; we just know that any pain relief medication she is prescribed appears to cause a drop in blood pressure.

At Easter 09 she fell and boke the humorous (ex spelling) and dama ged her scapula so that they had to plate and pin the joint - without much success; there is a more than remote chance that she may have to undergo another procedure in that area also.    As a cancer survivor - which is hormone receptive - she is victim to hot flashes which really interfere with her quality of sleep, thereby waking her times over per night to suffer the spinal pain time and time again.    Any help would be greatly appreciated...   Mystical aka Stu_UK Nottingham
