Neck, traps and shoulder pain 5 years and counting.

what is the most effective/safest solution for my problem.?

Im a 6ft male 220 lbs 29yrs old

For the last 5 years i have had neck/traps and shoulder pain. The worst pain is the one from the neck. I feel constant tightness in the muscles dis-allowing me to sometimes relax, throbbing pain which sometimes leads to migranes, constant inflammation and pulling. It hurts the most when looking down and gets worse the longer i keep my head downward. The pain get so bad i cant leave the house sometimes and i just need to lay down to take all activity away from the muscles and lay down straight with no pillow. I have noticed that stress is a factor which contributes to the pain but dont think its the root of the problem.
Diagnosis: I have been told from an x-ray i have a slight herneated disc. I have done an mri which read that i have possible bone spurs.
treatment: PT..no help, Chiro.. no help, accupuncture... no help, massage.. temp releif, medication: steroid pack and gabapentin...temp releif.

My doctor has said that the next step would be cortozone shots in the neck. Now im not one to keep going on with stronger forms of temporary fixes but i may have no choice with this pain. Im hoping to reach out to a greater audience of people who may have lots of experience with this in hopes to seek out someone who may have another solution for me which i would be willing to try before conventional treatments (cortozone shot) which arent complete solutions. I would appreciate the feedback and i will provide any additional information i have left out, please ask away. Thank you.
