Neck Pain Headache Preventing Laying Down To Sleep

by health4u, Nov 01, 2009 07:55PM
Healthy, active retiree, except for neck pain when I lay down to sleep.  After a few hours of sleep I begin to develop this headache which starts in my neck at the base of my scull.  I cannot remain in the laying down position as I have learned that the headache will continue to radiate up the back of my scull and throb on the top of my scull becoming so severe that I will begin to vomit.  Consequently I cannot sleep in my bed even though we have invested in a very expensive adjustable, temperpaedic bed along with several chiropractic pillows.  I now spend most of my time sleeping on the couch or in a recliner.  This has been going on for almost two years since being rushed to the hospital where a cat scan and lumbar puncture ruled out an aneurysm.  I am currently undergoing message therapy, physio therapy (tens) along with decompression therapy and chiropractic care on my neck.  I do pilates and low impact kick boxing classes twice a week as well as twice a week aquacise classes.  Lack of sleep is ruining my life.  Can you help?
