Neck pain

Hi,

I'm getting really bad neck pain.   It is sore and stiff with pain localised around 10cm below the base of my skull.   With certain movements it also sends pain down between my shoulders.

I have had this before and went to see a doctor,  who basically said its a sore neck and gave me some anti-inflamitory pills, which did the trick for a while.   However, since then it has been getting steadily worse.

A few years ago i had an accident which forced my chin to my chest, and it was very painful and stiff for a few days and then settled down.   The pain i have had since is pretty much the same pain i had after the accident.

Also in this area of my neck there is what i can only describe as a step.  My neck 'justs' out about 10mm.   Also when i swallow it hurts my spine in that area.

Any ideas?

Cheers!

I know this might sound crazy but have you tried acupuncture? or something similar? It might work and if it doesn't them i doubt it could made you pain any worst, but if you do get it done made sure you talk to previous patiences / customers to make sure they were happy with the service and results.

Hi Selma,

Nope i never bothered to check it out,  like i said it was rather sore for a few days but seemed to sort itself out.

Its just that the pain i have now comes and goes, say once every couple of months, but seems to be getting worse each time it happens.

Just out of curiosity and for piece of mind, do you or anyone else have this 'step' in your neck as i described?

Dont worry i will be getting this looked at by a different doc.

Cheers,

Chris

Hi...sounds like u need a specialized spine clinic dr.....not knowing where u r from, but I am sure there r specialty drs in ur area.

Did u get an MRI after the accident?...if not u should have and may want to get one now....how long since the accident?...

Deff follow up with a good NS that specializes in the spine.
