Numbness spreading

by AnneyMay54, Feb 21, 2009 12:53PM
Some 7 year ago I fell off a ladder, broke my back at T12 and damaged the nerves at the L-3,4,5 levels. Many days and especially nights I still hurt terribly on my left side down inside my butt cheek and around to my inner thigh down to my knee. Then the pain just radiates down to my foot. Here is my question. Would the pain/injury spread over to the right side of the small of my back? I have developed numbness about the size of a quarter,on the outside of my right thigh and has spread from just below my hip and to just below my knee. I didn't worry so much when it was just numb because I just chalked it up to the old back injury but now it hurts underneath the numbness. Some days I can't even touch it and that is really bad when the itching starts, which I can't feel anyway but still try to scratch. That is all bad enough as I see it however it doesn't stop there anymore. Now on the right side of my upper back just below my shoulder blade is going numb and burns and itches that I can't scratch and has begun to hurt. I also want to point out that when the stinging starts it feeling like it does when I am going to break out in shingles but there is never any rash that shows up anywhere.
Last but no least the area of my big toe on the left foot and half of the toe next to it are numb now and is also hurting.  I have tried: ice, heat, tylenol (because I am on blood thinners) and topical pain relievers such as capsesation. I have told my GP about this and she looks at me like I am from mars. Is there any explaination at all? Oh, I almost forgot. The muscles in my legs arms and torso will twitch uncontrollably but there is no pain. I suffer from: asthma, COPD, CHF, emphysema, and possibly Sarcoidosis but won't know about that until after the biopsy on thursday the 26th of Feb.
Thank you so much for your time.
Regards,
Annemarie
