Osteodoc from MKappelmann

Thanks for your response. What are some examples of causes of the pain? I've seen an orthopedic surgeon & I've made an appt for a physiatrist. I've had NMT done, I have a great chiro who's also trained in physiotherapy and a PT. The muscles do loosen but inevitably tighten back up!!

Not sure what your specific problem is without actually examining you. You might possibly have something going on with your lower body that is throwing your pelvis off balance, which is in turn causing a sacral/lower back problem (everything is related). Do you sit all day, do you have knee problems? Does your PT do psoas stretches with you? a tight psoas muscle is a very likley cause of back pain among many people. It can be tight in runners or people who are hunched over or sitting all the time. A test to see if you have a tight psoas is to lay flat on your back on the floor and then see if you can bend one of your legs at the knee joint and pull the knee to your chest without bending the other leg at all (keeping it flat on the floor). its called a thomas test

if you have a positive thomas test, simply laying flat on the floor may elicit back pain.... flexing both legs at the hip should relieve the pain

thanks for responding. Yes, I had SI joint dysfunction for several years before finding help w/current chiropractor. I was in dysfunction(posterior rt sacrum upslip) for 2-3 years before being correctly diagnosed. I am out of dysfunction now for several months, but maybe my PT & chiro are correct in that it will take a while for the muscles, ligs, & tendons to heal & stop firing off since I was in dysfunction for so long. My PT does stretch psoas, thanks for the info though.

Yea, if it was a long chronic problem it could take awhile for the muscle to adjust. Rehabilitation doesnt happen overnight. I imagine that an innominate upslip is painful
