Physiotherapy Massacre

I went to a hospital in India because of unresolved muscle spasms in the legs which began 3 months back but didn't seem to cure. I have vitamin D deficiency (27) and iron deficiency (42), but that wasnt the reason for those cramps as per the docs. So I was sent for physiotherapy.
One earlier physiotherapist had told me that my muscles are weak and therefore, exercise isn't the solution to my problem.
However, this new physiotherapist made me exercise forcibly. Till when he was restricted to the leg, all was okay. But then he started pressing my hip joints and asked for any pain in those areas. I said no. Then he pressed super hard several times on what I think is the tailbone. To the same question, I gave he same answer. But after about half an hour since the therapy, pain began in the region. Gradually the pain increased and when I reached home there was swelling. The pain and swelling kept on augmenting. 2 days have passed now. I can't sit nor stand nor lie down. There are cramps. Is it possible this is an injury? My dc

Hey thanks for the reply. Actually my problem was in the legs. I don't understand why he had to do anything up there where i was 100% flex. And there's another complication - I presently have jaundice so can't take any medication , specially pain killers. And im just 18 year old female. My family physician said just let it be but he couldnt check me cause I can't move.
Anyway thanks for answering my query.

Hi and I am sorry this happened to you. It can be an injury. I hope it goes away. All I can say is I went to a PT and had a muscle strain to my lower back. It wasn't that bad but it was painful. Hind sight if I had left it alone and just walked or exercised it on my own I would have been a lot better off.
This PT said I had SI Joint dysfunction so I believed him because he had a PhD. He then began doing "manual therapy" on me. One day he did the wrong thing and I ended up in so much pain when I went home and the next day I had to go on pain killers. I had never taken pain meds in my life. It took me  a long time actually years to recover from that and I am still in chronic pain over it unfortunately and not as strong as I used to be. I am finally able to bend and so forth but not back to normal yet.

So I think he caused some type of injury to you. I would see an orthopedic doctor to see if it is a strain or something else. Or you can start with a family practice and get a muscle relaxer and ice and if you need them pain meds for a short time,  and see if it gets better and get their opinion first. I'm sorry you had this happen too. I have needed to go back to a PT and have tried one other since and got injured again but not as bad because of being weak. So I don't trust them any more. Best to ask your doctor for some exercises and do them carefully and at your own pace. But for now you need to heal.
