My spine is now fused from S1 to L2. I had surgery on Jan 31, 2014. I was doing great, doing PT, walking with really, very little pain, just what you would expect from being cut like that.
Then a week ago, I get up from my couch/reclining chair, the pain was so bad I heard stars, I also saw them, it really hurt. I could not get up without help. I still can not get up on my own, or take care of even the simplest of hygeine tasks, I can brush my teeth and hair, but that is very painful.
Anytime I move it means horrible pain, so into the ER I go on Sunday, and after a CT scan, Mri with dye, and lots of tests for infections, which thank goodness I do not have, I am told fluid has built up around my L5 area. I will see my doc tomorrow, I have a great one, but even so I am so afraid of having to do another surgery like I had, simply said it was not an easy task to complete, for my doc and me. Back was broke x4.
Has anyone else had this happen to them? And if so, what did you do to deal with the pain? I was, and am on the morphine pills. I was off of them until this fluid thing happened, but even the morphine pills do nothing, not even a scratch on relieving the pain when I move, does great to help me sleep though. Unless I move at all while sleeping, and at that point, I'm looking and talking to some stars for a few minutes and up to a few hours. And I 'm sorry I know of no one who is still while sleeping.
I know the fluid is there because of the insult to the body, but is there anything I can do to make it possible ,to at least, be part of life again?
I will be so greatful any advice..
