Recent cervical MRI

I recently had an MRI done and am really confused about the results. Please explain.

Mild baseline congenital narrowing of the central canal. Cord signal is normal. The cord is normal in size. The craniocervical junction is normal. No evidence for Chiari malformation. Disc desicciation from C2 to C7. Severe disc height loss at C6-C7. Additional disc desiccation within the upper thoracic spine at T2-T3 and T3-T4. Multilevel degenerative changes are superimposed on mild congenital narrowing of the central canal. Small hemangioma withing the C3 vertebral body. Multilevel degenerative changes are as follows:

C2-C3: Tiny central osteophyte. No Central canal or neural foraminal stenosis.

C3-C4: Left greater than right uncovertebral spurring with diffuse disc osteophyte complex. Mild left neural foraminal narrowing. Mild central canal narrowing with AP diameter narrowing of 10mm.

C4-C5: No significant protrusion. No central canal or neural foraminal stenosis.

C5-C6: Central disc protrusion which is broad. This minimally indents the ventral CSF. Meural foramina are patent. Mild central canal narrowing with AP diameter of the canal measuring 9mm.

C6-C7: Diffuse disc osteophyte complex with superimposed broad left paracentralprotrusion. Bilateral uncovertebral hypertrophy. There is flattening of the left ventral cord with overall moderate central canal narrowing. Thin rim of preserved ventral and dorsal CSF. Moderate right and mild to moderate left neural foraminal narrowing.

C7-T1: Mild diffuse disc osteophyte complex. No central canal stenosis. Neural foramina are patent.

T1-T4: Only evaluated on the sagittal images. Small protrusion at T2-T3 and T3-T4. No central canal or neural foraminal stenosis.

Impression:

Degenerative changes are most pronounced at C6-C7 where there is disc osteophyte complex with bilateral uncovertebral hypertrophy along with a superimposed broad left paracentral protrusion. There is resulting moderate central canal narrowing with left ventral cord flattening along with moderate right neural foraminal narrowing. Cord signal remains normal. AP diameter of the central canal is approximately 8mm.

No I am not having any pain other than in a general area. My pain only comes up when I have been wearing a motorcycle helmet, or I have had my head held in a certain position for a long period of time. I get pinched nerves traveling up and down my neck and into my shoulders pretty easy, so I have to watch how much pressure I put against my neck. The worst time is when I try to roll over in bed, I have to be aware of how I roll over. Other than that I have no serious pain. I was just trying to get an idea of how bad my condition is because I had to do a physical for my job interview. Along with that, they ordered up the MRI of my neck. But they won't go over it with me and for some reason the doctor won't tell me if it medically disqualified me for the position or not. All they would tell me is that they sent my file to the HR department. But for some reason the HR dept wants to be stingy with the information as well. So now I don't know if I need to seek help and look for a different line of work or if I got the job and this is just something that needs to be watched. Thanks for your reply!!

I have transcribed many reports like this.  Are you having pain all over more than anywhere else, or is it localized to one area of your neck?

It's a lot of changes.  I'm not a surgeon, and you need to have a neurosurgeon explain the significance and whether this can and should be improved surgically.  Make sure you get a highly rated one.  My ex had cervical spine fusion and has had a very good result, but he waited sort of long, and he still has nerve pain going down his arm, but at least the other changes got turned around by having the surgery.  He was starting to stumble and stuff.  I remember he had cervical stenosis and two herniated discs among other things.
