You need an MRI scan if only to rule out any disc damage, but they only take back/neck pain seriously after about 6 weeks. Your injuries could be muscle inflamation, spasm, haematoma, soft tisue injury or spinal/disc problems.
I would think that things shouldl settle down in a few weeks. Try taking ice out of your fridge instead of . . . .sorry, but ice packs can be useful, especially with inflamation. Ibuprophen is a useful anti inflamitory too.
IF you are still in pain after 6 or more weeks go back.
If you have sciatica symptoms and muscle spasms check out piriformis syndrome.
Take care
I went to the er figuring that was best hope, well after a 24 stay in the er most of which spent in those god-awful chairs in the waiting room they finally took some x-rays abd came back with the verdict that I have arthritis, duh, and I was sent on my painful way, no exam just blood work, presenting with the symptoms I had, should more have been done?
I know I need a doctor, I know I need insurance, I went to the er after ten hours of sitting in stupid chair couldn't take the pain any longer and left, thank you, guess I really screwed myself royally
You may have hit the jackpot and induced a lifelong chronic injury that will keep you in level ten pain. I'm not sure what the moral here is.
Aspirin is not the right drill.
You need an immediate short acting powerful anti-inflammatorty such as prednisone for a few days.
You need axial traction. Gentle axial traction several times a day.
You need rest. Avoid riding in an automobile.
No cervical collar. It degrades muscle tone.
You need to see a specialist in what are called subluxion injuries.
Better go see a doctor about your neck. You may have injured it. You should also seek some help from a counselor or therapist about healthy and safe ways of dealing with anger and stress.
