I had Radiofrequency  Neurotomy done on the SI Joint last summer and it made a world of differance on the pain in my butt. It is a new procedure but my Dr said that allthough i would not be a part of the study he would do it on me anyway. It takes about an hour to do and they do 12 injections through the lower back.  I am really glad that i had it done. This is not a permanent fix but can last up to 2 years they hope.
Good luck

Thanks for the info, the nerve blocks work great UCSF Pain center is the one doing this after trying many other options.  I've tried the radiofrequency and was getting shocked too much.  I'll look into the site you mentioned to see whats new.

Thanks Debbie

Log on to the website eOrthopod.com and click on the link for Open eOrthopod.  The page that comes up will have an index of all available information.  Scroll down the page and there is an article regarding new approach for sacroiliac pain.  This site also has a lot of patient education pamphlets (pdf) with excellent illustrations to educate you on the causes of SI dysfunction and the different treatments available.  The radiofrequency treatment has proven to be quite successful.  I would think you need to see a Pain Management specialist for additional info regarding this procedure and other forms of long term management.
Good luck--
