Aloha no, Kapolei...I too am not a doc, but my husband just recently was diagnosed to two stable lumbar hemangioma (s). Two things are present; he has a bulging disc @ L-1,2 that bulges to the left; he also has another disc which bulges to the right @ L-4,5. He's pain is immense. I've seen this once active cyclist, hiker outdoorsman go downhill with pain. If you are on Oahu and I see that you say that there are no Spine Ortho's there, we were told about a Dr. Liem out of Straub who is doing some good work in/around hemangioma, bulging discs and other lumbar related issues. Might be worth investigating. I know that we are going to. Good luck!
Let me begin by saying I'm no doctor!
Vertebral hemangiomas are benign lesions of the spine. The thoracic and lumbar regions are the most common locations for these lesions, however they can be found within the cervical spine. In order for this lesion to cause your pain there usually is a compression fracture associated with it, or there is compression on the spinal cord. If you are questioning the diagnosis and treatment plan, then I think it is a good idea to get a second opinion.
Hope this helps.
