SPINAL MRI--WHAT DOES IT MEAN

SPINAL MRI--WHAT DOES IT MEAN

I am a 34yr old female and have suffered back pain as long as I can remember. (No falls or wrecks)  All chiropractors seen tells me the condition is cognitive.  After reading the report, which I don't understand completely, my doctor reccommends the hyperbaric chamber to rehydrate my discs.  Along with continuing to align my spine for range of motion.  Can you please tell me about my MRI report, the hyperbaric chamber, (where I can find more information) and other methods of treatment.  Also, should I seek a second opinion?  Thank you.

Findings:  Leftward curvature consistent with scoliosis of a mild-moderate degree centered at the L4-L5 level.

Degenerative arthrosis of the left sacroiliac joint.

L2-L3 (subtle endplate spurring)

L3-L4 (nominal bulge with mild endplate spurring)

L4-L5 (minimal chondromalacia of the facet joints.  A nominal disc bulge is present)

L5-S1, mild disc desiccation.  There is a posterior central disc protrusion with an annular tear of a small size without impingement of nerve root.  Left-sided pars interarticularis defect.

CONCLUSION:  Small posterior central disc protrusion at the L5-S1 level with an annular tear but without nerve root impingement.

I don't know any chiropractors who use the phrase "cognitive" to their patients... Are you saying that more than one told you that?

As far are your MRI results, it's simply describing the various levels of arthritic change.

I will admit, I know little about hyperbaric chambers... For a second opinion, I'd consider researching this website: www.UpCspine.com and looking for a referral in your area.

Warm wishes,
AT
