Sacroiliac surgery caused biomechanical problems?

Sacroiliac surgery caused biomechanical problems?

I had bilateral SI fixation with right fusion in 2006. This helped my severe SI instability but led to piriformis syndrome. I had sciatic decompression on the right with piriformis release in 2007. Three weeks post-op I developed severe pain in my outer thigh that ran from my outer hip to just below my knee on the right side. It progressed in the following weeks to the left side as well. The leg pain and tightness causes my toes to go numb. EMG results have not showed anything significant. I have had hip MRI and X-Rays that showed nothing as well. My SI fusion has healed normally. No one can seem to figure out why I am in so much pain. I have had months of PT. I now use opiates, muscle relaxants, TENS, and a muscle stimulator to function. I went from a medical professional working full time to disabled. Do you have any ideas or do you know what medical community would be best for me to seek help from? I have exhausted all resources in my area and all my docs have thrown in the towel. Thanks in advance for your time.

Hi,I'm sorry to know it
It is a common misconception that leg pain always stems from the pressure of a slipped disc, a trapped sciatic nerve or piriformis syndrome.  This is misleading, the main cause of legs pain is inflammation stimulating nerves, causing the pain signal.

So,It seems that you have been suffering from soft tissue inflammation around your lower back and buttock area for long time, which can lead to severe pain in your outer thigh that ran from your outer hip to just below my knee on the right side. The inflammation area recently became more sensitive,as sacroiliac surgeries' stimulation.

Clinically,Better treatment option is deep and intensive acupuncture by my knowledge.
Good luck!

Thanks for your post. My pain management doc suggested accupuncture at one time, but we never proceeded. I think I will give it a try because at this point, I am willing to do just about anything to get some relief. Thanks again for your concern.
