I have recently been diagnosed with mild scoliosisScoliosis Scoliosis - resources Scoliosis brace Signs of scoliosis of the L1 vertebraeCervical vertebrae Lumbar vertebrae Vertebrae. I don't know if this is commonCommon cold, but X-rays revealed that my L1 vert. is fused to most likely the ilium of my pelvicKegel exercises Pelvic adhesions Pelvic inflammatory disease (pid) Pelvic laparoscopy Prostatitis - nonbacterial Uterine prolapse girdle. I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem re: scoliosisScoliosis Scoliosis - resources Scoliosis brace Signs of scoliosis? It this commonCommon cold? I pulled my quadratus lumborum playing soccer, and it will not heal because of this curvature of the spine. Also, I sometimes get shooting pains down the backside of my rear and through my hamstrings. It gets very achy and tight from time-to-time. Furthermore, after being on my feet for long periods of time (I work in a restaurant), at night I suffer from achy joints and muscles. I know you're probably thinking, "well this is from being on your feet so much, dummy," but the pain is very severe. It prevents me from sleeping and I have to take anti-inflammatorys which only lessens the pain but does not completely relieve it. I've done some research into this and believe that it may be restless leg syndrome (RLS).
Any thoughts? Could these things possible be related?
My treatment includes massage therapy and yoga (to strengthen my back muscles and hopefully hold my spine in place.)
I too have been experiencing many symptoms similar to yours. I get RLS at night, and sometimes it feels like my whole body wants to jump around. I am on anti-inflammatorys and muscle relaxers. I am also in PT for my lower back pain. I have a problem with my L5 getting stuck in my S1 area. I work in a hospital where I am on my feet for 12+ hours a day, yet I feel like I have 50lbs of weight on my lower back only after a few hours of working. I have been fitted for orthotoics for my feet due to just finding out that I have RA in my feet. Did I mention I am only 27? I wake up some mornings not being able to get out of bed as well, so I can't work that day. I stand cooking dinner and have to stock at least twice to take a break to releive the pressure in my back. My PT isn't helping me. I've been doing simple streatches and strengthening my lower back. However I feel like I am deteriating fast for my age. I can relate to your pain and symptoms. Doing some home research some say that using certain vitamins with magnesium in it can help with these symptoms, but I will check with my doctor first before anything. But I can say that what my doctors are doing are not helping, and I am getting worse. My kids are suffering as well, because I can't do much of anything anymore, like a simple walk to the park. On a good day I can (which are very few). I am at a dead end with my treatments. Good luck to your.
I am 26 and have the same problems as you! I have a 2 year old son who is very active and it is hard to keep up with him!
If you want to keep in touch with me please let me know, as I am trying the same things you are and so far nothing works, trust me I know all about the far and inbetween of having good days!
I also have scoliosis, sciatic and have shooting pains down my right leg. i also have spondilosis of the Cervical, Throacic and Lumbar spine. Like you I didn't find out untill I had an x-ray, most people with Scoliosis end up having OA (spondilosis etc). I get terrible pains in both my legs and feet like walking on stones, also pain in buttock. Guss what it usually is worse of a night when trying to rest. I alos am having lots of problems walking and doctors seem to take no notice. I tried all different things nothing works, on relaxants etc etc.
we have just gone to a doctor about my husbands (confirmed) RLS and he is on Mirapex for that. BUT last week's visit had the doctor adding Magnesium to his vitamin regemin for muscles. I have been on magnesium too, and I must say it helps. The pharmasist told me we can take up to 1200 mg/day. This is not even close to what you get in normal vitamins, so the doctor added extra to his. I have been on it and have had deffinite relief from cramping muscles (arms and legs feet etc) so I can recommend magnesium.
