Severe low back pain! 18 weeks pregnant. HELP!

I have had back problems for a few years now. What started yesterday is completely different from what I am used to though. I did not do anything physical that should have caused this. I noticed yesterday that I have a really sharp stabbing pain in my very low back. Right in the middle. It hurts to sit,stand,bend,cough,sneeze. Its hard not to bend having a very active 15 month old! It actually takes my breath away! What could this be? Has anyone had this happen to you before?? I thought Kidney at first but after some research I read that the pain is more on the sides of the back and not in the middle,so I have no clue! And is this something I see a chiropractor for,or a Dr?? I just cant stand this,I hope someone has some info or advice for me! Thank you for your time!

It may be the ligaments between your pelvic bones getting looser to prepare for childbirth. I got it real bad with my last pregnancy and the physical therapist said to use a belly band. I was the same way last time, could barely move without extreme pain. I wound up on bedrest a couple weeks later, so being off my feet pretty much solved it. I'm 18 wks with this one and I'm having the same problems again, so I'm taking it easy and trying to stay off my feet as much as possible with 2 in diapers running around.  A chiropractor may be able to help too, I would ask your doctor for a prescription for a belly band or see if you can find one at a medical supply store.
