Severe pain in back with tingling arms and legs

I've had severe pains in my back for a long time. I've been to the chiropracter several times over the last few weeks. The problem is that a couple of weeks ago I started getting tingling in my arms and legs along with the back pain. The pain is mostly in my middle and lower back with some in my upper back which causes headaches. It also shoots down into my legs and feet.

I've read that if you have a bulged disc that you shouldn't see a chiropractor. Is that true?
I'm going to get an MRI as soon as they can get it schedualed. What can cause all the tingling? I wake up in the mornings and I'm feeling so ill. I have some nausea which I think is prob from all the pain. I have headaches, feel tight all over especially in the chest, tingle all over, I'm tired all the time because I don't get a good nights sleep.

I'm getting scared that I might have something seriously wrong with me and it causes me to cry all the time - the pain doesn't help with that either. Sometimes I feel like I'm going crazy with all the tingling and the ill feeling.

Sorry, had to vent. I want my life back but I'm in so much pain it's hard to do anything. I'm not sure what kind of Dr to see. I've been to my PC Dr and she's tying but it takes so long to get any kind of tests done and then get the results. Can anyone give me some kind of info on what I should do for the pain?

The tingling isn't so bad today but still severe pain in back. Still waiting on the MRI. Seems like it takes forever when you're in pain.

Thank you so much for your advice and support. It's good to talk to someone who really knows what I'm going through. My husband is great and is trying hard to help me in any way he can. He's the best husband ever. But, he doesn't have the pain so can't really understand how it feels although he trys to understand and I love him for it.
I'm waiting on the Dr to order the MRI and hope this sheds some light on all this pain. I've had back problems forever but the tingling came about two weeks ago. It started with severe pain in my butt area which I think was sciatica. I went to the chiro and it seems like it's getting worse so I'm not going back until I get the results of the MRI. I think it made it worse, not better.
Thanks again for your help. Take care and I hope you get some relief too.

Sounds like a Herniated disc to me, and its choking what you call the "S1" root or sciatica, very painful. I'm going through it now. I also went to a chiropractor as I though it was all the weight I have gained recently, I would suggest stopping for the time being. Go to your doctor and get that MRI that's the key to knowing whats wrong. I just had severe back pain and lose of feeling in my foot/leg  and thigh  with burning  in my hip.  No tingling up top cept a few months after but I dunno if that was related. Ice your back! don't lay on your stomach, lay flat on your back, if you choose to lay on your side put a pillow between your legs. Try not to do house type chores dishes vacuuming etc if you can avoid it until you know whats wrong like my p/t doctor and back doctor tell me if it hurts DON'T do it!. Get some hydro-condone if you can and Darvaset/Diazapam to relax your back, the muscle relaxants work.I'm also taking 800 mg of Ibuprofen one daily to reduce swelling. I know how you feel I cant say for sure its a herniated disc but you have allot of the symptoms I had. I dunno about the nausea but that could be nerves. If your stress goes to your back like mine does guess what its gonna make it feel nasty. I had 2 cortisone shots but they gave very limited relief for pain and hurt like Hades.

Again this is IF you ahve a herniated disc.

Good Luck
