Stepping up the curb or step

I was stepping up on the curb with my cane and i got this excrusiating pain (10/10) that was felt in my tailbone and surrounding left and right area. I slowly sqautted to the ground automatically and was lifted up by my brother and held there for a minute. I litterally thought i was paralyzed or it was over from there on out.

I already been to my doctor twice. I was on my way to the physical therapy office when this happened.

I am VERY afraid to walk without a walker now, Very slow to the bathroom and the anxiety is causing bathroom accidents.

I am still unaware what it is. My physical therapist claims I am WAY to tight and my Primary care doctor thinks i sprained it.

Any ideas? Im afraid beyond belief.

A pinched nerve in the lumbar can cause the bathroom accidents and the nasty pain. Call the doctor's office and explain the difficulties and that the current treatments are not helping. Have you had an MRI? That would help explain what is causing the problems. It sounds like something is more than sprained.

As the spinal cord runs down your spine, there are nerves that branch out the sides that run out to your arms, hands, organs, legs, etc. In between the vertebrae there are squishy disks that provide padding. Injuries or disease can cause any number of opportunities for nerves to be pinched, causing pain, inflammation, more pain, more inflammation, and sometimes organs or muscles don't work quite right. All of that needs to be checked by a doctor.

90% of patients with back pain clear up in a few days, so doctors start with conservative treatment for everyone. People that call back or come back repeatedly should get more attention. If your doctor continues to ignore you, get a referral to another doctor.
