Strange Sciatica Sympton

While my sciatica (and I am assuming it IS sciatica) started with the usual symptoms - pain in the lower back shooting down my leg to my knee - the symptoms have evolved into something new for me.  Most of the lower back pain is gone, but the inside and front of my left leg is now so tender, wearing pants hurt.  At night, moving the sheet causes pain as it moves over my leg.  I also feel a stiffness in my knee, and sometimes an almost electric shock that can be very painful going through either my whole knee or just the inside part.  I am now three weeks into this bout.  I am taking percocet and celebrex.  The percocet dulls the pain somewhat, but not entirely.  Has anyone else here had this tenderness as a symptom of sciatica?  It has me very worried something else is going on.

Re:sciatica pain..has this actually been diagnosed by your doctor?
When you say pain in your lower back..do you mean intense pain in your buttock which is where the sciatica bundle is located.  When a flare up occurs it can cause pain to continue all the way to your toes on occasion.
I deal with this thru massage therapy and it helps a lot for me.  I request a theraputic massage not a feel good one and have the area worked on to relax the clenched muscles that a flare up causes me.
Be cautious with the pain meds especially opiates like perc. and very cautious if offered oxycontin or methadone as both are highly addictive and dangerous to your health-this isn't a scare but documented, however those of us in pain don't care at the time and we end up hooked on them.
best of luck with your pain.

From the information given I would say that you  has suffered what is sometimes called referral pain due to lower back disk injuries.I recommend you make an appointment with you primary care physician, or alternatively, a neurologist who can better take a detailed history and do an exam.  sciatica is a diagnosis which requires meticulous history-taking and examination technique so unfortunately, I am unable to offer you any definitive answers on this forum.Take care!
