I've been dealing with a neck injury that is driving me crazy. What is the best way to increase strength without causing more damage? I've heard several different things from several different doctors. My current therapist has said it's best to stretch (no weights) because it will just cause more pulling on my neck, which is probably right because when I've used weights (5-8 lbs) to strengthen my arms/shoulders, it seemed to make my neck worse.
Is long stretching enough, though, along with physical therapy (myofasical/trigger point massage) enough to help increase the strength in my neck? How long to see improvement?
