While searching for answers to my problem I found yours which sounds very similar. Have you had any results ?

Shoulder blade pain can be caused by degenerative changes of the intervertebral discs of your cervical spine.  The burning or stinging pain is associated with nerve irritation due to possible nerve compression by either disc herniations or narrowing of the neural foramen causing pressure to be placed on the spinal nerve roots.
The only way to determine if your symptoms are related to cervical spine problems is to have diagnostic films (x-rays and possible MRI)
It would be beneficial to make an appt with your primary care physician for a medical evaluation and appropriate diagnostic tests.
